About the Pattern

These socks got their name as I took them on a long flight to Los Angeles and back when we went for a skiing holiday at Mammoth Mountain in the Sierra Nevada Mountains. So they were certainly well travelled by the time they were finished !

The yarn used is Woolhunter Blue Faced Leicester Sockweight yarn dyed by myself here in Pembrokeshire. The colourway is called Cactus Rose.

The stripes are achieved by the way the yarn has been dyed so you can sit back and relax whilst the yarn changes colour for you!

How it's done

I made these socks using 100 grams of handpainted Woolhunter Blue Faced Leicester Sockweight yarn. This will make one pair of women's medium sized socks for shoe size 4-7/US 6-9. Finished foot length is approx 9½ inches but this can be adjusted by knitting extra/less rows to suit your feet. Similarly the finished foot circumference is 8 inches.

Tension/Gauge is 8 Stitches per inch in stockinette stitch using 2.5 mm/US 2 double pointed needles. You may wish to adjust the needles up or down to get the correct gauges.

This pattern is for sale from the Woolhunter shop. I can either send it through the post or electronically in pdf format.
