About the Pattern

These fun socks were made for our friend Jana who lives near New Orleans. She came over to the UK to work on a project with my husband. He told the other men in his group that they had better watch their step because Jana came from the "deep south" she wrestled alligators in her spare time.

This is totally untrue of course or at least I think it is !

The yarn used is Woolhunter Blue Faced Leicester 4 ply yarn dyed by myself here in Pembrokeshire. The colourway is called Crocodile Rock.

The patterning represents stylised alligator scales.

How it's done

I made these socks using 100 grams of handpainted Woolhunter Blue Faced Leicester 4 ply yarn. This will make one pair of women's medium sized socks for shoe size 4-7/US 6-9. Finished foot length is approx 9½ inches but this can be adjusted by knitting extra/less rows to suit your feet. Similarly the finished foot circumference is 8 inches.

Tension/Gauge is 6 Stitches per inch in stockinette stitch using 2.75 mm/US 2-3 double pointed needles. You may wish to adjust the needles up or down to get the correct gauges.

This pattern is for sale from the Woolhunter shop. I can either send it through the post or electronically in pdf format.
