About the Pattern

This superb cushion/pillow couldn't be easier to make but looks far more difficult than it really is. It simply uses the knit stitch and is knitted in two pieces so there are no endless, tedious squares to join together!

The yarn used is 100% Merino DK wool custom dyed by myself here in Pembrokeshire.

Why not make more Big Squares by purchasing extra wool and join them to make a superb throw/Afghan?

N.B. This cushion is highly commended by the expert tester who has given it a rating of "Very Comfortable" !

It's a hard life but someone etc. etc.

"I'm a bit tired Mum, is it OK to test it now ?"

How it's done

I made this cushion using a total of 200 grams / 7 oz (100 grams per side) of my own Woolhunter DK yarn (the Colourway used here was called Retro - I am happy to dye a similar colourway to order).

Tension/Gauge is not really important but 60 stitches and 60 rows should make a piece roughly 40 cms/16" square using a pair of 6.5mm/US 10½ straight needles.

For a throw/Afghan 4 Big Squares wide by 6 Big Squares long you would need approx 12 skeins (1200 grams/42 ounces) in total.

The edging on this cushion was deliberately left plain but you could easily do a corded edge or add tassles. If you would like some advice please contact me using the Feedback Form.

This pattern is for sale from the Woolhunter shop. I can either send it through the post or electronically in pdf format.
